Primary School Headteacher Remanded To Luzira Over Theft Of UGX176M

There is news making rounds on social media of a primary headteacher of Nakazigo primary school in Mayuge district facing charges over of millions of money.

SCHOOL HEAD TEACHER CHARGED, REMANDED OVER THEFT OF UGX176M

The Headteacher of Nakazigo Primary School in Mayuge District, Mr. Ramadhan Ngobi, 58, was

on 17th March, 2025 charged with embezzlement and abuse of office and remanded to Luzira

prison.

Mr. Ngobi was charged before the Anti-Corruption Court Principle Grade One Magistrate, HW

Christopher Opit. He did not take plea. The Magistrate adjourned the case to 25th March, 2025

when Mr. Ngobi is expected to take plea and apply for bail.

He allegedly caused financial loss of UGX176,000,000 to Nakazigo Primary School while

working as Head teacher. Prosecution is led by Mr. Mikka Luteete and Mr. William Ntumwa from

the Inspectorate of Government (IG)

Details of the charge sheet are as follows:

COUNT 1: EMBEZZLEMENT

PARTICULARS OF OFFENCE: Ramadhan Ngobi between February 2021 and October 2021

while working as Head teacher Nakazigo Primary School in the performance of his duties stole

UGX 176,000,000/= ( One Hundred Seventy Six Million Shillings) from Nakazigo Primary

School, Mayuge District, being property of his employer, which he had access to by virtue of his

office.

COUNT II: ABUSE OF OFFICE

PARTICULARS OF OFFENCE: Ramadhan Ngobi between February 2021 and October 2021

while working as Head teacher Nakazigo Primary School, Mayuge District did in abuse of

authority of his office withdraw UGX 176,000,000/= (One Hundred Seventy Six Million

Shillings) from Nakazigo Primary School Bank Account No. 9030006458938 domiciled in

Stanbic Bank, money meant for construction of 2 (two) class room blocks and a 5 (five) stance

1VIP latrine at Nakazigo Primary School but did not implement the activities and put the funds to

personal use, arbitrary acts prejudicial to the interests of his employer.
