Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) led by Cindy Sanyu and Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) led by singer Eddy Kenzo have finally signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
It was signed this week with the hopes of working together and helping Ugandan artistes earn from their work like artistes from other countries.
The biggest problem in Uganda’s entertainment industry is the copyright law. Musicians don’t earn from their work because it is not copyrighted.

When Eddy Kenzo introduced the UNMF, Cindy the president of UMA wasn’t happy with it. She even accused the singer of stealing all her ideas.
Artistes were divided among the two associations but now they have resolved that and are now hoping all goes well.

According to secretary general of UMA Phina Masanyalaze, the artistes coming together is really powerful and the copyright will be signed by all means.
“I am so happy for the Memorandum of understanding that was signed between UMA and UNMF. Our goal is one and that is the copyright law that I hope will be achieved sooner,”
